Does the $29.95 fee include the exam?

The $29.95 fee gives you access to the SafeCheck Canadian Food Safety Online Course and online exam. The final exam is available anytime 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Is the SafeCheck Canadian Food Safety course approved across Canada?

Yes!

The SafeCheck Canadian Food Safety Certificate is nationally accredited. Provincial public health departments in every Province and Territory across Canada accept our certification as equivalent to their own.

How long before I get my food handler certificate?

Within minutes.

As soon as you pass your final exam, your certificate will be emailed to you. Your certificate will also be available for download Learner Dashboard. We suggest that you save the digital copy of your certificate & wallet card so you can access it in future. Your access to the course expires after 30 days so it’s important to ensure you have a saved copy before this date.

How long is the SafeCheck Advanced Canadian Food Safety Certificate valid for?

Your SafeCheck Advanced Canadian Food Safety Certificate is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

How long do I have to complete the course?

You have 30 days access to the course:
– you can go in and out of the course as often as you like
– the learning program will remember where you left off and you will be taken back to the same point that you left when you log back in
– there are no extensions allowed, please complete your course and exam before your 30 days have passed

How long does it take to complete the course?

5-6 Hours

The SafeCheck Advanced Canadian Food Safety Certificate course is designed to be completed in about 6 hours. You can start and stop as often as you like. When you return you will be able to continue from where you last left off.

How does the final exam work?

* Online Proctoring *

The SafeCheck Food Safety exam is proctored utilizing a combination of impartial individuals (called a proctors) and using artificial intelligence to review bio-metric data. Working together, they monitor and supervise a student while he or she is taking an exam – available 24/7.

To write the exam you will need:

• Computer or other approved device equipped with a working webcam and microphone

• Approved devices include newer smartphones, tablet, laptops and desktop computers

• Government issued photo identification (ID)

• A quiet room with no people nearby

• A clear desk or work area with no open books or other devices (no other cell phones or tablets)

When you click on ‘Start Final Exam’ you will be connected to our SafeCheck Virtual Proctor. You will show your ID and it will be verified. The virtual proctor will monitor the exam using the webcam on your computer. You will not be allowed to talk to others, leave the room or take notes.

What if I don't pass the Final Exam?

No worries.

We offer a Pass Guarantee. This means there are no additional costs for exam retakes*!
You can take the exam as many times as needed at no extra cost. The vast majority of all students pass the exam on their first attempt.

Why do I need a photo ID to access the final exam?

Our proctor needs to confirm that the person who took the course is the same person who is taking the exam. This is required by the government for anyone taking the exam, they must provide a valid government issued photo ID. The proctor only needs to see your name and photo on the ID.

Is Food Safety Certification and Food Handler Certification the same thing?

Yes.

The terms “Food Safety Certification” and “Food Handler Certification” are both referring to education and examination of an approved “Food Safety” learning curriculum that meets a regulatory requirement for staff and Managers working in a food establishment.
